Since I have childhood memories at home, I can clearly recall those afternoons after school, when I would watch documentaries that showed distant places on Earth or how science explained the world around me. I remember how motivating it was. Once I had watched a few hours of documentary video, it was just enough to spark in me the eagerness to read, to awaken an appetite for learning about those topics.
It helped me a lot as a child, deepening my understanding and helping me think more critically. It certainly provided me a safe path to comprehend things inside out and vice versa.

Today, artificial intelligence is doing for the learning curve what the printing press did for the spread of knowledge — compressing what once took decades into months, and reshaping what it means to grow as a creative professional. The question is no longer whether these tools will change how we learn and create, but whether we are ready to embrace that change with critical thinking and intention.
So that is the catch: to captivate someone else’s attention for enough time that they can focus on doing something completely new for them — to learn, to practice, and to improve skills and aptitudes.
One can analyse the more primitive forms of observation or contemplation among apes, in which one ape imitates another’s techniques, skills, or even personal characteristics. It certainly constitutes a collective act of intelligence, ingenuity, and empathy. Nowadays, we can understand so much about the human brain that we can generate quite similar learning patterns and behaviours in response to life’s challenges.
The systematisation of knowledge has taken humankind to new levels of accomplishment and set new milestones, even as disruption remains part of Mother Nature.
From Athens to the Algorithm: A History of Human Knowledge
In ancient Greece, the fear of losing knowledge led to heated discussions among classical Greek philosophers. Socrates, unlike many thinkers, wrote nothing down himself. What we know of his life and ideas comes through the accounts of his students, mainly Plato and Xenophon. The technology made it possible to keep things consistent with how they look in real-world conditions. Inventions like this unleashed artists, free of the need to represent and imitate how perfect nature looks.
Fast-forwarding to the last century, we witnessed how photography paved the way for film and video to become natural tools for spreading knowledge and truthful academic work — but also for things that are not good for humankind’s survival. These tools have clearly become a weapon for propagandists with bad intentions and the pursuit of sheer dominance.
Another innovation in how we communicate was born in the 19th and 20th centuries: the telegraph, radio, and telephone. These, in tandem, helped humankind multiply the effectiveness of communication.

This era highlighted the adoption of digital technology, leveraging video and photography to new levels of mass communication.
A decade ago, Web 3.0 began. Here, things play out differently — the dynamics between big tech and users are about exercising control over one another; obviously, the more powerful remain the big tech companies. Yet Web 3.0 is shifting the approach toward a peer-to-peer experience, giving people more freedom on the internet. Peer-to-peer is also among the best ways to learn something new fast and properly master it.
More astonishing is that, less than a decade ago, machine learning algorithms made possible the evolution of today’s AI models, which are now spreading all around the world. Artificial intelligence is about training on data and learning from inputs, creating deep learning models that are far more complex than anything before them. Now we have eased the burden of doing things for ourselves — loads of repetitive, tedious tasks in the digital world can be done with a few prompts, fewer clicks, and far less time.
The physical world has yet to fully embrace robots capable of handling the most demanding tasks and creating safer roles for human workers. Perhaps AI 2.0 is just around the corner, and the changes will be extraordinary for all parts of society.
